The International Circus Festival Young Stage is one of the most important circus festivals in the world.
The mission of the festival is to offer a platform to the most talented young artists from all over the world. The non-profit project aims to promote contemporary circus in general, to facilitate networking and to inspire the next generation with children and young adults.
Nadine Imboden is part of the Creative Team of the project and has been responsible for choreography and show direction for several years.
In May 2023, the International Circus Festival celebrated the most successful edition in its history: 6 impressive shows, 5 days of intensive rehearsals, over 8000 fascinated spectators and 6 standing ovations! The crème de la crème of the circus world met here; the jury included big names such as Cirque de Soleil, Europapark, the Monte Carlo Circus Festival and many more.
Nadine Imboden on her work at Young Stage:
“Every year, it’s a very special moment when I meet the artists for the first time. In the first choreo rehearsal, we get to know the young talents for the first time and have to find out very quickly whether the movements suit them and their skills, and whether the moves bring out their character best. I have to be able to make adjustments flexibly and quickly, and it’s very exciting how the images I had in my mind become real. For many years, Dimitri Lavrynenko has been by my side and together we develop the choreographic images. We have very little time to work out this creation with light, content and the artists. It is very important that this production surprises again every year and captivates the audience from the very beginning. And, of course, the show should give the artists a sense of togetherness; they may be competitors, but they are also a team. And the beautiful thing is: Live long friendships can develop here.”
